CHATEAU PUECH REDON
Château Puech Redon wine estate is located in Languedoc-Roussillon in the Gard department. Turning back on Cévennes foothills, its semi hills are oriented southwards. The soil is clay and limestone. The alternation of Mediterranean warmth summer days and fresh nights is special feature of its terroir. Cyril Cuche makes unpretentious, unsulphured wines from this meticulously farmed land. Puech Redon is a large property: in total 380 ha split between 200 ha or cereals, 52 ha of vines, and over 100 ha of woods and garrigue. Cyril’s grandfather acquired this land after World War 2. Cyril has since taken over the property where he started to work organically since 2008. He states that the effect of a culture without chemicals on such a large property is truly impressive for the soil, the vines, where even the animals that have left the land can be seen returning.
Cyril prides himself on perpetuating a tradition that has a cultural dimension. The grapes are harvested by hand. The vinification is carried out with indigenous yeasts, without addictives and inputs. The wines are not fined and very little filtration is done at bottling. This minimal-intervention approach towards winemaking was reaffirmed when the famed Eric Texier, who as of 2017 decided to collaborate on vinification.
