DOMAINE DE LA ROSERAIE
Domaine de la Roseraie was started by Julien Petitjean in 2012 at Nolay in Bueane. The property covers a totally of 5.8 ha of vineyards between Puligny-Montrachet and Beaune, covering appellations of Bourgogne, Hautes-Côtes-de-Beaune and Beaune. Julien has a double Masters in Art History and Archaeology, and Musicology. His career change came when he attended La Viti in Beaune, and after working for 8 years at various domaine across the Côte-de-Nuits. He believes in crafting minimal intervention wines with the respect of the environment in Burgundy. Purity and simplicity are his objectives every day. In the vineyard he favors the use of lightweight farm equipment with tracks to minimize the impact on the soils and microbial life. Julien knowledge of the ecosystem around the vineyards allows him to create the purest expression of terroir in his wines, where each grape carrying itself as the essence of the place where it is born.
During maceration, Vinification techniques are adjusted each day, after tasting, so that the temperament of each wine and vintage can express itself in the most natural way. The domaine’s cellar is from the fifteenth century, where temperature is regulated and the wines spend 10 to 36 months in oak barrels. The Chardonnay cuvées involve whole-bunch pressing, made with no sulphur additions and then aged for 12 months barrels. The Pinot Noir cuvées involve whole-bunch fermentation based on the infusion concept with minimum punch down and extraction. Élevage last for all bottlings for 12 months except for Senex and Eponyme, which are 18 months aged.
