GARO’VIN - CEDRIC GARREAU
Cedric Garreau farms 3.5 hectares of vines around Beaulieu-sur-Layon, making tiny quantity of exceptional Loire Valley natural wines. He works in a renovated stone building across the street from where he lives in close proximities to his vineyards. Cedric does not come from a family of winemakers but instead was inspired to learn more about wine after having attended oenology school in Bordeaux. His first vintage was in 2010 after acquiring 2 hectares of vines. He currently makes 6 different wines under his label Garo’Vin, where he embraces the Cabernet and Chenin Blanc grape.
The vineyards are certified organic, and winemaking is done in a pure and precise manner, but with a laissez-faire attitude. Cedric’s wines have a beautiful balance of fruit and freshness – made by nature, and are highly regarded in the local wine community. Cedric also has a wonderful skill of refurbishing old traditional winemaking equipment that his neighbors are eager to get rid of, and employing them into his winemaking process. The use of old fashioned equipment, coupled with a traditional approach, and human sensibility has made Cedric a producer that we are excited to work with.
