Gazzetta is a passion project founded in 2018 by Trish Nelson. After traveling the world and being drawn to a slower pace of life, she earned a degree in sustainable agriculture and continued to pursue her passion for wine. She worked with some of the most influential Italian winemakers of the time, such as Antonio and Daniela of Catina Giardino and Gianmarco and Clementine of Le Cost. Through these experiences, she was able to better understand the effects of biodiversity and working in a poly-cultural manner in the vineyards. Gazzetta is now based in a cottage in Localita Gazzetta, on the beautiful hills above Bolsena in northern Lazio. The terroir of Lake Bolsena is special because it is one of the largest volcanic lakes in Europe; this combination of volcanic soil and the microclimate caused by the heating and cooling of this large body of water gives the wines a verve and energy that excite the palate. She also has vineyards in Lazio, and some deeper in Orvieto, Umbria, these vines are shared with the Ajola project she has and another winemaker Malauva.

In the vineyard she works organically, using herbal teas made from local plants such as stinging nettle, dandelion, willow and chamomile. The grapes are fermented and aged in a variety of vessels (chestnut barrels are her favorite for her whites), with nothing added at any stage; the vinifications and blends can vary drastically from vintage to vintage, making her a master blender in a way. We are excited to have her wines here in Taiwan, and we believe the wines are unique and emotional.
